Hahaha I am gonna low-key troll that concept forever. Lol

Yes. Yellow bird

I’ll update the bogs shortly.

WaterWitchin 01-13-2021 09:28 AM

My Brass yellow bird had dry sheaths this year. Not sure why, but definitely useless. And Useless species cordata barely bloomed this year. I think they're possibly not getting enough warmth in new grow space.

I'm surprised if temp is the issue for the caudata WW.
That's a species that can typically do well under a pretty broad range of temps. Mine right now has 9 spikes, one of which has already gone by and one that's brand new with indistinguishable buds yet to develop. All the others have 9-10 flowers/spike.

Roberta 01-13-2021 03:11 PM

Hmmm... I don't have Bc Yellow Bird, but my B. cordata (subulifolia) bloomed beautifully, with multiple spikes (not sure how many) GH is moderately warm at least by day, but goes down to 58-60 deg F (14-15 deg C) at night.

Mr.Fakename 01-13-2021 04:39 PM

Is there anything you guys can't grow?

DirtyCoconuts 01-13-2021 05:40 PM

I am not good at mushrooms (the non psychedelic kind) or anything that NEEDS a chill period.

I will be the first to admit I am a hack. I just live where the “light” and “water” parts of the equation are always easy lol. Just need to figure out the “food” and “air” hahaha

I am so impressed by those of you who can shape and craft your environments to be something they are not. Like your tent sent up. It’s so brilliant and creative and makes a tiny little world in your unused space.

Keysguy 01-14-2021 08:02 AM

I can kill a Masdevallia or Dracula faster than you can say "whoops"!

I don't know what it is but couldn't even grow them in my cool GH in NH.

That Epi. is a gorgeous red. radicans?

Same here! I tried growing several times back in Batcave days where I could easily control their temperature requirements. Sometimes even looking side-eye at them and not full on would cause them to keel over.

I have no idea what's going on with all the Brassavola. The only thing that's changed is their new orchid space. But I still think I have it tuned in similar to winters past. Maybe I'll figure it out, given time and another year.

And yes... more info on the red one please...

DirtyCoconuts 01-20-2021 02:26 PM

the Epi. is radicans and it is normally a deep coral...i moved this one into FULL sun and this is the result. All the leaves are red and purple so it is getting pushed hard lol but i love the results

Dusty Ol' Man 01-20-2021 03:45 PM

Shame on you for torturing that poor, defenseless plant!

it is Den catenatum. new to me and a very cute little flower indeed!

WW- it is a yellow type oncyidum..i could not see the only flowers open close enough but i am scheduling a trip back in 1-2 months to see the magic in full display.

i only used my arms as a gauge, i did not actually squeeze (although i have not hugged many people in like a year due to pandemic and that is a sad thing)

Steve83 01-23-2021 12:02 PM

I'm digging that sundew.

When do your Myr. bloom?

DirtyCoconuts 01-23-2021 07:50 PM

It’s actually not a sundew in the genus Drosera. It is a Bulbis. I’ll pull the tag and tell you soon. It was too cook not to get. I also just got a frail triggerplant. It’s teeny now. But I love plants that fight back

DirtyCoconuts 01-25-2021 03:24 PM

it is Bulbis aquatica 'noonamah, MT' it is a hand written tag but that is my best guess LOL

super fun little carnivore and a great bog plant

---------- Post added at 01:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:24 PM ----------

i have had this Max. tennefulia for close to 3 years and i have done a few different things to try to make it happy and i confess i had many missteps and mistakes.

I was always getting slow but steady growth and it never went the wrong direction so i would tinker and i think that was just upsetting the plant.

i moved it to a brighter spot and got two flowers!!! it is a big-ish plant and i think it was just using the energy to grow and now it has the reserves full LOL

Already got them in SH... Excellent! Less down time for me! And when it's ship time, whack me off a start of that adenium! Gorgeous color.

I can see why that's one of your favorite blooms... is it a Blc of some sort?

Purple Cherokee.... you'll never go back. And more than a little jealous you're getting ready for a fresh one in February. {{sigh}} Six more months if I'm lucky.

Diane56Victor 02-02-2021 03:58 PM

I think your orange honeysuckle is actually a Cape Honeysuckle (Tacoma capensis) We had a long hedge of it in a previous house consisting of many individual plants and not one was fragrant.
I dont think its related to the honeysuckle at all. It must be the shape of the bloom that gave it the honeysuckle in its common names.
Its a fast grower, nit covered our fence in height and length in double quick time which is why we chose it.

Some gorgeous blooms, Ill bet you could just throw a cutting in the general direction of your garden and get a spectacular display.
Just as well given the rough weather you can get, plants need to re-establish quickly.

DirtyCoconuts 02-02-2021 06:08 PM

Thanks! That is a great tip

WaterWitchin 02-02-2021 08:16 PM

Yes! I was thinking Cape Honeysuckle myself. Didn't want to doublecheck it, and didn't want to misdirect... Gracias for confirmation Diane!

DirtyCoconuts 02-03-2021 06:20 PM
