That one is on my list as well.

Vanda Motes Hot Chestnut is one. I've wanted to find a hybrid like that which has a lot of V. Merrilli in it (which creates more unique looking flowers). Motes Orchids no longer sells it.

In a similar vein, Vanda Mary Foster is another one I haven't seen available anywhere.

Anything with "Volcano" in the name likely comes from Akatsuka Orchids on the Big Island of Hawaii. They don't post most of their stuff online, but give them a call. Akatsuka Orchid Gardens - Buy Orchids from Volcano, Hawaii

The orchid that I would love to have is the Monnierara Millennium Magic 'Witchcraft'...But everytime I look for it online, it cost $75.
And I would love to have a Dendrobium johannis and a den. aurantiroseum. Or just any Den. I've never seen any stores selling them in ny yet alone nj.

I used to see ghost orchids for sale all the time, the small ones usually from OakHill and resold Oakhill plants on eBay. Occasionally, I would see larger ones on eBay and elsewhere sell for massive prices. Since Oakhill stopped selling them then went out of business(?), the supply seems to have dried up. BotanicaLTD is supposed to have flasks of them back in stock at some point. Mine came from OrchidsLimited a little over a year ago, and they no longer have any for sale. Haven't seen one on eBay for months.

I am looking for Epidendrum strobiliferum. If anybody could help me out on this one, it would be much appreciated. Maybe just a cutting or division. I would happily part with some cash to add this one to my collection.

I won't even bring up Lepanthopsis melanantha (ooops, I did). I emailed TropicalOrchidFarm, and they haven't had this one in 10-20 years according to them.

Oak Hill Gardens had quite a few species orchids that no one else offered. I truly regret that it closed. My first encounter with them was many years ago, when they were still in Illinois and I was obsessed with having an Angraecum magdalenae. Even after they moved northward, I was still able to find stuff there that no one else offered. I still can't believe they are gone. :(

It turns out, if you care to know, that in Europe you can sometimes find this orchid for sale. If you are in the US, you are better off looking for something where the odds are more in your favor. Maybe unicorns. Or sasquatch.

If you fall in love with a species that is rare in trade, or a hybrid that no one is making anymore, you can tell everyone about it here.

Think of it like a milk carton with your orchid's picture on it, and now maybe a hundred eyes are looking for it, instead of just two.

:)

If you haven't found the leonis, Marlow's orchids seems to have it (hopefully it is the right one!). I know I am tempted....

For me, it is the Angraecums.
