(Blow all the things I should be doing. I need a night off and this is fun!) |
LOL Enjoy your night off guys, I'm off to take my kids to school. I'll check in later and see what progress has been made :P

Have a nice day! And I'm off to bed.

Phal lowii is tough to find in the states, but I like where this is headed. Even within a genus we may be able to find several species that grow in a similar environment with similar growth habits, so that we could compare notes etc.
Let me know how we in the states might be able to help. Only place I've ever gotten flasks from is big Leaf and the Seed bank Project groups, so I'd love to find new sources! |
Perhaps those that know of flask sources (especially ones they've used before) could put the links up? That way they can be easily collated later, and everyone can get an idea of what's available.

Just wanted to pop in and say Paramount in Canada can be a nightmare to communicate with. They don't stock flasks and only bring them in for themselves so IMO they are not a reliable source for flasks in Canada. That said, I'm not sure who else stocks flasks (never inquired) but bringing them in from the states is usually without hassle. Like Camille, I think its a good idea to try and support local businesses and keep the money within respective regions(as much as possible).

Drew: Have you ordered flasks from the states then? Do you need any paperwork or anything?

This is my preferred orchid flask supplier in Aus plus whatever I can get on ebay(which tends to be random catt hybrids, a few Aussie natives and sometimes new Guinea type dendrobiums and hybrid phals)
Personally I'd prefer to not spend any more than $65 on a large flask or $40 on a smaller flask (the phals and paphs I listed above come for $65 in a large whiskey bottle from this supplier and they are generous with numbers) Rosella Orchids |

I got a reply back from Roelke (they apologised, away at shows etc...).
They said you can check DHL - Paket | Express | Logistik for postage: it's €36 for up to 5kg (and about 16 for up to 2kg which I think you might get away with) They say they haven't needed cyto or cites forms for flasks to the US, but do need a green/yellow label (which I'm guessing is the import certificate?) It's looking like I might be able to provide seedlings for this in future years! My paph spicerianum pod is possibly swelling (after a few months!) and the phal cross I did a couple of weeks ago is swelling nicely! |
