Nice, BikerDoc !

Does your plant have a label to ID the original source? I have a Lyc Cherish which is closely related. I'm always looking for more sources of good Lycastes, hybrids or species!

I just saw three (four?) of this cross exhibited in Lansing last weekend. All by commercial vendors. Try contacting Zephyrus Orchids (in Windsor, ON, but he ships to the US) or Russ Vernon (New Vision Orchids, in Indiana). If they don't have some for sale maybe they remember where they got the plants.

This is the way my Lyc Takagamine (Chita Melody 'Starfire' 4N x Sunrise 'Era') looked several weeks ago. I had 6 spikes, one blasted. I now have 3 seed pods taht I hope will develope and contain viable seed. There is a new PB starting at the base of the most current PB. This is all the information I have as this plant was on its way to the dumpster at my local garden center....lucky for both of us that I just happened to be in the right spot at the right time.

Hey Rob, spoke with you at MOS meeting this month...not that you'd remember me with all the other people wanting some of your time. Anyway, the plant originally came from John Doherty at Zephyrus. He was going to show the plant in Grand Rapids but the flowers got some water damage and just wasn't show quality. I am trying my hand at getting some seed. Since I didn't have any other pollen donner other than the my plant, I just did a self-cross...just an experiment...I'd like to find someone with a darker red Lyc next year to cross and I may have that someone in Ron C at Taylor Orchids. So what I was looking for is to give away the seed pods to anyone willing to flask them....and maybe give me a plant from the flasking down the road....so if you knwo anyone, you know where I am....

I should be doing flasking by the time the pods are ready. Of course I was planning on having my hood put together 6 months ago...
