I think it smells like fresh mushrooms....musty like. Not offensive. Nothing that fills a room with stink.
Mine has 8 buds this year and I cannot wait!

That's a beautiful flower--and a mushroom scent wouldn't bother me at all. I just didn't want to buy a Cattleya that smells like a Bulbophyllum! And no offense to Bulbo fans... :-)

Oh good. You have a beauty there Tess. Thanks for letting us know.
Do you know if there is a size requirement for the plant before it sets out blooms?

Thank you Tin.
I had to let people know it's not a stench flower.
And sadly I don't know about flowering size. This plant was a division that I got 3 years ago from Seagrove Orchids .....I see she has another one.

The fragrance on this plant ranges a bit from plant to plant. I asked a few people and the responses varied from pleasant to mown hay to smelly socks. Evidently no fragrance is also a valid response.

Well C. jenmanii x C. percivaliana smells good. Kinda fruity. If that helps.
