Default Cattleya Claesiana Aquini

Cattleya Claesina is the primary hybrid between Cattleya intermedia and Cattleya loddigesii. The photograph is of an artificial remake using C. intermedia aquini as one of the parents, but Cattleya x claesiana is occasionally found as a natural hybrid in the wild and has been described more than a hundred years ago, in 1899.
I had five or six plants of this specific cross and gave away as a present most of them as they flowered, keeping just two plants. One of them, a difficult grower, having barely half the size of the other that I selected, finally showed its face. It is just one flower, but what a surprise! As it so often happens, the difficult ones end up proving to be among the best. The color distribution, the form and flatness and the two yellow ‘eyes’ in the petals make this a very special clone, one of the best I have seen coming out of this cross. I am calling it ‘Sensation’ as a way of differentiating it.

Great, it really is a "Sensação"

The yellow eyes adds "value".

A lovely flower! Hopefully you can manage to keep this "difficult" grower alive.....

I love that touch of yellow...it definitely adds that extra 'something' to an already beautiful orchid
Job well done, Mauro
