Some successes
Ok here's are my newest spikes...both of which I'm quite proud because one is a difficult plant to grow (for me, it seems) and the other was one I bought a long time ago out of bloom and though it has grown substantially the past two years, it never re-spiked. But all of that has changed!
Phal Brother Peterstar, of which I don't even know what it looks like (Google yielded some varying results and I really don't know what it looks like) has finally spiked. Its a nice looking plant and the spike is quite thick.
The next one is Cranberry Queen, which has the classic "warm growing" features. It is a Venosa x George Vasquez hybrid, but it likes it bright and warm and though it has steadily grown for me since I got it, I have found it stumbles in its health if conditions change too much-- such as even moving it from one spot to another. So it has its spot on my grow shelf and it keeps that spot so that it doesn't throw a tantrum. But it too has a new spike! WOO!!!!
Here is a group shot of some of my phals. Phal Sunflower is the bright yellow one you see... it likes to stay in flower all the time, but has a new spike as well.
And now Phal Sesame... one of my favorites-- oddly exotic looking and heavily spotted, the flowers are quite large and last for a very long time. The spikes are huge too. I haven't researched its parentage but I'd be curious to know what large parent is has. I should note, also, that the plant itself is quite large. From tip-to-tip the plant is 32 inches wide. I thought maybe I was giving it too little light but the leaves are quite thick and so I see no evidence of too little light. She's a "big leafed" girl. LOL Her first blooms is only now opening.
Here is a not-so-great shot of her when I first got her...
I have loads other phals in spike too but I'm most proud of these guys. I have a purple NOID that I named Purple People Eater (because its huge, too) and another hybrid that is heavily spotted like Sesame but I can't remember the cross right now-- it has no official name. In fact, I have a lot of plants with spotted flowers... must be my thing.

This is my Phal. pallens, who is going into overtime with putting on roots, spikes, and keikis! Every keiki has one new spike and two of them have two. The mother has thrown two new spikes and has new growth on three of her old spikes.

What a Fun thread!
My good camera is lacking the proper lenses, so I used a point and shoot, pardon the lack of photo-niceness.
Ok, so here are some of mine...
Phal brother redland spot x Dtps Maui Galaxy
Dtps Sogo Vivien (mini)
Phal 'Margarita Lime'
Paph glaucophyium album x paph Pinocchio
Didn't expect to get another bud out of this! and look it's working on 2!
paph onyx 'Cypress Hill' x paph Hsinying Majakum 'Ching Hua #3'
Zygonisia Cynosure 'Blue Birds'
Dendrobium Nopporn 'Pink Elephant' (I know not a spike but a bloom!)
NoID Dendrobium Wish I new what this was, It has just shot up spikes for 3 months now, I'm in LOVE!
Phal NoID, This one will be a surprise for me, I have NO Idea what these Blooms will look like!
Again, Sorry for the low quality Photos. Hope you enjoys them a bit!

They look great!!!!!!! I have a Sogo Vivien too, don't you LOVE that one??? When mine blooms it reminds me of cherry blossoms in the spring...love it! Mine had a setback this summer but is putting out keikis-- I expect a full recovery but a season without blooms

sogo vivien is one of my favorites as well! I just love the color! This is actually one of the many of mine that got sunburned earlier this summer when I went on Vacay, and they weren't taken care of properly. I thought I wouldn't get many spike this year at all! I have gotten a pleasant surprise this season! I didn't get any pics of my Cat. Chocolate Drop 'Volcano Queen' this year in bloom, but that one just hypnotizes me! Nothing like the smell of Jasmine in the morning!
The first phal I have up there, I'm so excited to see it bloom! This will be my first bloom with it! CAN'T WAIT!!!!
