KeikiPro & Trying to Create Two L. autumnalis out of one....... Female
Default KeikiPro & Trying to Create Two L. autumnalis out of one.......

Hi all,

Last night during chat I mentioned to my fellow orchid people that I was trying to get some backbulbs from one of my Laelias to grow.

So, after much discussion and handwringing, I decided to buy KeikiPro to see if I could get another orchid out of the ugly, shriveled backbulbs I separated from my plant.

The instructions on the website seem straightforward, but I was wondering if there was anything about this product I should know about. Or, did I just buy a 30 dollar bottle of snake oil?

Your advice and suggestions are welcome, as always.

I've had very good results with KikiPro. Just follow the directions.
If you have a plant you would like to experiment on and don't mind losing or setting it back, try a different dose or more often. It can be fun.

The problem with trying to establish back bulbs on orchids and especially on Laelia is that there needs to be a good growing eye at the base of the back bulb.

This is the little green nub that is at the end of the growing rhizome. It is usually under the sheat at the base of the bulb. When you remove old back bulbs or center bulbs it is difficult to start an established eye and if the eye does not exist it is an almost impossible task.

Even when dividing plants you should try to have a viable eye on every division.

When we divide we just leave the cuttings on the bench until the eye begins to grow. A good eye grows fast.
