I laughed like crazy when I read your last post. My orchids NEVER bloom for shows! EVER! If they are in spike at the right time to bloom for a show, they take a break. Seriously.
Yet, even if my orchids did make an effort, I don't really care about getting a ribbon or naming an orchid. To me, the only reason to grow orchids will always be for personal enjoyment. So, no worries there.

Tell me about it! I had 5 plants that looked like they would be perfect for the MAOC last weekend and then they stalled days prior. By Sunday...open and gorgeous. Spiteful and ungrateful little b***ards!
