Mystery spots/pits on leaf of Cattlianthe
Default Mystery spots/pits on leaf of Cattlianthe

Hi everyone,

My Cattlianthe Red Leopard's newest leaves have some crazy spotting and pitting on them. I haven't seen anything like it on my other plants. It's grown in my unheated greenhouse in San Francisco. I really like the flower so I'd like to save this plant - any advice appreciated!

Thanks

Harris

Pitting on new foliage is usually caused by tissue collapse due to use of water thats too cold or because of too cold temperatures you have had.

also you have a yellowing of the leaves = chlorosis.
May be due to excessive light and/or deficiency in nitrogen. More food and drop the light level down some and might be able to salvage it before its done. I think we all decided some time ago that adding calcium and magnesium will be beneficial for your plant also.

It is very nice flower too

Thanks RJSquirrel! I've heard of tissue collapse but never seen it in person. We haven't had night temperatures below the high 40s in the past 30 days - is that cold enough to cause tissue collapse? I use K-lite fertilizer (12-1-1-10Ca-3Mg) so I've assumed I don't need a Cal/Mag supplement. Am I wrong?
