Small circular damage on leaves of an unknown orchid
Default Small circular damage on leaves of an unknown orchid

This orchid was taken from an extremely stressed abandoned plant (pic 4), I have no idea what type of orchid it is. There were no visible pests or leaf damage.

The rescued plant is growing quickly, and except for the leaf damage appears very healthy. I’ve flushed the plant, collected the water which ran through the potting medium, found no evidence of any pests alive or dead.

Nice work getting the plant on the road to recovery (I see those new shiny new roots!).

The spots look like a chlorophyll sucking insect like thrips, aphids, or mealybugs/scale.

There are no visible pests anywhere on the plant or in the potting medium. I'm hoping it's not a virus.

100% not viral.

Doesn't look like an infestation, just a couple random bites. Keep an eye out for pests tho.

It's an Oncidium. Evenly moist, medium bright light, intermediate temperatures.

I've had little spots like that show up from spraying spray can pesticide [Orthene/Orthonex iirc] too close to the leaves.
