Oncidium with buried bulb? Female
Default Oncidium with buried bulb?

I was checking my oncidium sweet sugar this morning to see if it was time to water, and discovered a buried pbulb. It seems fine for now, but the top of this bulb begins at the bottom of the rest of the bulbs in the pot, so I understand how it got buried. I'm just wondering if I should leave it that way.

I don't want to repot it if I don't have to. It's in bloom and it seems happy otherwise. I'm not noticing any rot around this buried bulb so far.

Suggestions on what I should do, if anything?

Thanks!

I've found these in the past as well and I don't believe they matter.

Some Oncidiums tend to grow slightly upwards with each new growth slightly higher than the last. Often when you buy them it seems they have been potted so the smaller earlier ones are buried.

Rosie is right, my experience with this plant ....the roots will push it upwards and the bulb will right itself ...just give it time.

Awesome! Thank you both! That's a load off of my mind. Any special precautions I should take with watering, or should I water like I usually do via the bucket method?
