Lovely paphs!

l have noid vini open just now but the bud was really deformed as it was growing. I was convinced it had blasted at one point but it did open and while the flower isn't a looker it's actually better than I expected from the bud.

I got rid of two vini with "crooked" flowers. I let them bloom a few times, and every time it was bad, so out they went.

I think it has to do with the genetics.
They had issues with the leaves (ridged along the veins) too, which didn't bother me much, but I read that it is a sign of genetic incompatibility as a result of different plants being crossed together. oh, well... part of the fun I guess. hehe

Sometimes though, slight dimple on the pouch can disappear on the subsequent bloom, and I'm not sure that is also genetics or lack of water while the bud was developing.

Any suggestions for a yellow/gold bulldog Paph with a white "halo" NYCorchidman?
How much of white do you prefer on the dorsal??
Some are just barely painted along the edge of the dorsal, while some have mostly white dorsal just like the last one in the picture above.

Yerba Buena (White Cap) is used a lot in breeding to give those large white dorsal with little bit of green in the center.
Gege Hughes is used for white "rim", but all these hybrids have quite a few sub groups (or cultivars?) with different characteristics, so it is not that clear actually.

I believe you can only guess the outcome as vast majority of the progeny of these complex come out crappy and very different anyways.
Many with Yerbe Buena has no halo while many also do have halo. So you never know, but guess (or expect or hope for certain qualities).

Many modern green hybrids use Stone Lovely, Pacific Shamrock, Sorcerer's Stone (which is a progeny of the forementioned two), and many come out with nice green with different amount of white on the dorsal.

So look for these names in the tag, but again, you never know. So it is best to save lots of money and buy divisions of well known plants or open flowers at a show.
I wish I had all the money! hahaha

Also, McLaren Park (famous classic green complex) and Hamana Gem on the tag could have great potential I think.

I like green complex and some of mine do trun yellowish in the early stage, but I do not have developed much taste in nice yellow/Golden complex.

If you want a nice golden with white halo, then I recommend Gege Hughes 'Moon Harvest' You'll have to get a division, which is not cheap, but it is the best yellow I've seen so far, and one I will buy if I ever want a nice yellow one.
