One cane divisions are relatively easy for someone growing in the Philippines, but it doesn't mean it is absolutely easy.

For someone growing in various parts of the US, it can be a frustrating experience for those in the cooler climate.

1 cane divisions are generally weaker than a 2 or 3 cane division.

For beginners who are not growing in tropical countries, I would not advise dividing down to 1 cane.

1 cane divisions runs into the problem of leaving a lot less room for error.

Also, 1 cane divisions are more than likely to throw out keikis from the nodes in between the segments of each cane. The likelihood of growing out from the base is rather small, but it can happen.

1 cane divisions need to be in consistently high humidity to do well and throw out keikis.
