Angraecum Didieri: From Bumps to Buds To Blooming (Photo heavy) - Orchid Board

Hey guys how are you all?? My Angraecum Didieri finally bloomed day before yesterday! So i decided i would do a photo diary from the bump to the blooming to show how it all goes down! I discovered it must have moving air or things go downhill very fast!!!! I lost a couple of leaves to rot because the air was not moving so i did not dry out fast enough. Now i know i can grow it and bloom it successfully! I was even able to re-pot it with no problems whatsoever! The second i did, in fact, it thanked me with a butt load of new roots!!! And buds!!!! So without further delay Angraecum Didieri: From Bumps To Buds To Blooming!! Enjoy!

I'm new or all orchids other than Phals, so picture diaries like this are HUGE source of information for me, so thank u for posting

how long was it between noticing the bud and blooming? BEAUTIFUL bloom! I was looking at Aerangis Fastuosa but I think from ur pics it would be too big for my tank

only one thing for it.... Need a bigger tank!!

I forgot to ask how long it took from bump to open flower?

Thanks guys! it took About 5 months total it felt alot longer once the bud became more conical and triangular in shape it took off!!!!!!!!

I just hope that the other bud that you can see in the photos blooms, Funny thing is that it was there since I got it and it has only advanced minimally. I dont know why its stalled maybe its still too young to carry two flowers at once?

The fragrance is not what i expected at all! It smells very similar to My Angraecum leonis a very heavy warm smell! the Didieri has more of an Anise note and is sweeter i think. i was really thinking it would be very sweet like My Nodosa but again they live on two very different continents so i dont know why i thought they would smell alike.

Does Sesquipedale have this same type of smell?

Great pictorial and an amazing amount of patience, 5 months? I do believe I would have gone crazy from the waiting.
