Default Duds? Max tenuifolia & Zns Cynosure 'Blue Birds'

Have you ever thought 1 or 2 of your chids were just Duds?

I have a Max tenuifolia and a Zns Cynosure 'Blue Birds' in semi-hydro since May this year and they have done nothing, nada, zilch except maybe root growth.

I have dutifully left the Max alone (hates to be disturbed) and fertilized weakly...every 2 or 3 weeks.

20-10-20 BG Urea free for the Max

20-20-20 BG for the Zns.

We have tested the water and it is perfectly fine. I have them in the right light. I tested the temperature.

Shouldn't I see some type of foliage growth, p-bulb, and not just roots?

I'm wondering if they are duds. They aren't suffering...they just sit there and do nothing.

I really want to poke them into doing something by next season. otherwise....they might have to go.

Any ideas? Maybe my fertilizer is off.

I had phals which I transplanted into SH when they were not sending out a new flush of roots, and they languished for almost a year before sending out new roots and actually growing again. I'd say if they aren't declining in health let them be and give them some more time.

Finally a new root!

Well I pulled the Zns out of the s/h to throw it out and what did I see? A new ROOT!

So I carefully put it back in the s/h pot and scolded it for taking so long and put it back under the T8 light.

Way to go Melissa !!! By the way my tenuifolia is in full sun up until about 1 pm and the very bright light for the rest of the afternoon and it grows like a weed. Maybe up the light a bit. I got it in a small 4 inch pot and I might have to move it into an 8 inch because the 6 inch that I repotted into is about full. The zygos get a bit less light but the same water regimen and fertilizer and are sending out new growths as well.
