A picture would help, but if mother plant lost all her leaves she's probably a goner. Keikis can be risky to remove if they present themselves very low on mother's stem. Without a photo for reference (don't know how your growing your plant) I'd leave the keikis alone until they produce a few 3 to 4 inch roots. Then I'd cut off the leafless top of the mother plant and let the keikis take over.
