How do you store your seeds
Default How do you store your seeds

This morning I sowed some dendrobiums seeds. How must I store the seeds which remain me. Is the vegetals box in the bottom of the refrigerator OK? How long can I store these? They are seeds buy at the OSB.
Many thanks for the informations.

I don't know if it is optimal, but I usually store my seed as a small paper packet in a cool spot. I use writing paper to make a sturdy packet (seed is small and leaks easily, so a little extra folding is in order), label it well, and store it in a cool dry place (my desk drawer, usually).

I'm sure there are better ways of storing seed...

I once stored seed in a fridge wrapped within alumnium foil fashioned into a bubble. I forgot about the seeds for 6 months and when I sewed them, well I just got fungus. So is there a time limit to storing seeds?

I store my orchid seeds in the refrigerator in one of the trays with a closeable cover. I've read several places the best results is keeping them in the refrigerator at 18c. or better. The less moisture that gets in the better. I double wrap my seeds. The first in wax paper, the second in a ziplock baggie with all the air pressed out.

I also keep all my seeds sealed in paper. The paper envelopes are in a wooden cigar box in the fridge. I would like to know how the Orchid Seed Bank Project stores their seeds cause they have some listed that are over 5yrs old!
