If this is an unknown cross (ie. you cannot trace it's parentage) I do not see the value in doing so.

If this is for the pure enjoyment of the plant and to have additional plants to share with family and friends (esp. OB friends!) then why not try the keiki paste available from Jim Brasch at:

http://www.orchidmall.com/hormones/index.htm

His site also has instructions how to use the product. I know several growers that have had success with his product. I guess it is all in your skill level.

I just like the plant, and would like to try out propagating it. (And yes if I do get some extras and people like it, I do not mind sharing)

I sent an e-mail to the person I got the plant from to see if he still has the plant tags, or remembers the name.

I was also told that birth control pills work well for getting keikis to grow.

"Birth control" pills to get a plant to "reproduce".....seems a bit contradictory to me!

I make kieki paste. Shoot me off an email if you still need some.

Kieki paste is typically made of cytokinins and sometimes people add jasmonic acid.

Sure seems like there are a lot of lab rats at this forum!

What application do you use it for Steve (other than orchs)?

Actually, I use cytokinins for a few different things. One of them is a face cream. Amazing stuff.

Negatory, kinetin and zeatin are awesome for skin. Kinetin is now the active ingredient a bunch of anti-wrinkle and skin firming products. Just check some of the science on the stuff, it works. Off topic, I hate the neutriceutical buzzword game where the try to make comsetics and makeup sound like science and research. I also hate those commercials where they talk about "healthy" hair... it is all dead keratinized cells. Is your kitchen table healthier when you rub oil on it?
