This has worked for me in the past.
I use only sphagnum. It needs a tolerable amount of baby sitting, especially in summer with a dry environment.
Although never tried, I believe it works for other Oncidiums and related genera.
Did you do anything to promote the formation of the keiki (does this qualify as a keiki?). I've found that some of the Oncidium-family do this for me when the base of the p-bulb gets damaged. Aspasia epidendroides does it a lot. I cut the p-bulb with the keiki attached off and tied it to a tree and they seem to be doing great. Though Aspasia don't seem to develop as fast as some Oncidiums do. I figure 2-3 years before blooming.
Now that you're mentioning it, that would be a good opportunity to mount it, something I've never done. The only mounted plants I have were bought already mounted.
What woul be the best mounting medium (besides the cork plate)?
I think that's a plant strategy for survival as, althought it has bloomed, the mother plant's roots were in bad shape (as well as its look ).

I'm not very experienced with indoor mounts. But, the Oncidiums that I have growing outdoors, besides the bullet-proof O. stenotis that grow well seemingly anywhere with enough light, seem to like spots where moss thrives because they rarely go dry for long. So maybe some sort of non-decaying substrate that you could mount the orchid and a bit of live moss over top. Live moss does a great job at holding water but allowing air to get through it, though I don't know if it could handle the indoor humidity levels.
Hello -
I have Twinkle "Fragrance Fantasy (yellow) and Twinkle 'Red' While I love my mounted plants I never attempted to mount the Twinkles. Both of my Twinkles are kept in sphagnum. They tend to like being evenly moist most of the time, and I cannot see that mounting would accommodate them. They have very fine roots which appreciate the continuous moisture. If you wish to experiment, make sure you have a 'spare' growing as well. Good luck! let us know if it works if you do mount yours.
Cheers,
Maryanne
