:waving Well, Jackie and I made a venture to the Central Florida Orchid Society's annual orchid auction and we both were bad influences on each other! :evil: I swear I planned on getting 2 or 3 but....

Well, no pictures yet, but I do have a list to share. I got some really neat things! Some really good prices on some of them too!

We also stopped by another place on the way home that I was just going to point out the location for Jackie, but we stopped and I got another one and she added three or four more! I have been wanting and looking for this particular one, so I am thrilled! (Is is also just opening the first flower on it's two shoots!)

If anyone can offer me any care tips for these guys I would really appreciate it. I am especially confused about the Grcym. the Iwar. and the Aerangis. I can't even find the Iwar anywhere. Maybe I spelled it wrong? Well, any tips would be helpful. I will get some pics :photo: and post them up tomorrow or so.

It sounds like you had a great time the other day. ;)

The correct abbreviation for the Iwanagara is Iwan. I don't have one of these, so I can't help with their care.

However I do have a Hwra. Lava Burst that I have been caring for the same way I do my oncidium alliance plants: medium light, *water about every 2-3 days in the summer, 4-5 days in the winter, and fertilize once a week. I actually just increased the watering on it because of a post I read from greggnkay. After the increase, I've noticed 5 new spikes appearing, so I'm going to continue the new regime, as indicated above with a *.

I got the Hwra. Lava Burst from the guy on 17-92 at the place called City Oasis. It is in between SR 50 (Colonial) and Virginia. It is the one I mentioned the other day. He is really nice and helpful. It appeared to be the last plant of that particular type, but if you ask him about it, he can probably get another one. He is also great at negotiating, almost always takes $1 or $2 off the labeled price. Mine only has 2 growths, but it only cost $12 and has 2 spikes just starting to open! Ask him and I am sure he will help you!

I am sorry for the delay, but my camera is taking a vacation apparently...it is at least 6 years old and doesn't always cooperate! :rofl: I should have a good one to use come Thursday so at the latest I should post on Friday. By then it will have a few more flowers open anyway.

Aww man, I was just there last week! That's okay.. will have to go back :) When I was there they had just got in TONS of Phal's (I can't grow those). Onc's are my favorites, especially the little ones.

Thanks for the info! Wish I could have went to the auction. I've never been to one before. I WILL be going to the Ridge show in Lakeland this weekend :)

Thanks for the tips David. I really only have one Oncidium until this and it doesn't really like me. I accidentally left it in the sun one day when I was moving plants around and it lost all it's leaves! Eekkkk... Luckily a new growth came out and the old pbulb is still a but unsighly, but it is still growing and making flowers so I guess it is OK (that was about 2 or so years ago). What medium do you use? Mine is in bark and some spag. The weirdest thing is that I had this plant once before, as a sickly thing I was trying to save but lost it to some mealie bugs. I swear that the vegetative growth was much shorter then my new plant and the flowers hung down like the pendulous type of orchids. Was it just the way this plant was grown? It had been in a basket with some lava rock, spag on top and kind of laying the plant sideways instead of straight up. Any thoughts on that?
