Hi , I did raise them mine went to nest late summer early fall .
Normal house Temps. are fine for them extreme cold not good . My bird room runs about 70 degrees .
They are picky eaters you might get some Petamine or other high protien supplement . I tried meal worms, and hard boiled egg grated up mine would not eat it . If used to getting meal worms they might ?
Your pair are very pretty Gin
Thanks Gin! Mine are more than picky eaters. They are downright suspicious!
I was able to sneak in a canned fruit food for finches. It looks like the seeds, except it has tiny junks of fruit and smells good enough for me to eat with a side of finc... I mean uhm... chicken .
The little male has started using the nest. Goes in, squals and then comes out to court the female. Hopefully they will. I like it when my pets fulfill the life cycle.

If they get serious about nesting they will probably close up part of the nest hole with nesting material , the main thing is leave them alone , not a lot of peeking in the nest they like privacy when nesting . Good luck with them .. Gin
Too cute!! I love birds, & would love to have some, but my husband is a transplant patient (brain!) & is banned from even being in the same room as a bird....I guess I could move him out to the garage! ;-D
