Default I did some Virus testing....

I purchased Adgia strips and the first two plants I tested where viruses An oncidium had ORSV and Phal CymMV. I definitely tested plants that I thought showed some questionable signs, but I am not sure I want to continue on. I may no longer have a collection....
Goes to show even if you keep a clean grow space you can definitely still have viruses plants. If anyone is interested I can share pictures of what my virus plants look like that tested positive, I will be doing more.

LovePhals pls do share the pictures of your virused orchids. I am terrified of testing mine and finding out that they are virused. Due to this fear, I water them ALL one by one or in their own pots with a spray pump. It takes FOREVER 😫

I tested quite a few and most where free of virus. I will post pictures of my virus and non virus plants as well tomorrow to try and help others.
I also am very careful that plants don't touch, all watered seperate ect. but I will be getting rid of my virus plants, sadly.

I can also add plants from Lowes and Kawamoto orchids tested free of virus!!

These 2 plants tested positive. The oncidium for ORSV as you can see had some odd spotting. I also wanted to test this plant b/c it hasn't flowered in some time. The other is a phal that tested positive for CymMV has odd yellow coloring toward the outer part of the leaf and also has not flowered for a while.

This Brassada tested negative, and this is bug damage. I wanted to test and make sure since the plant had so much spotting.

Man, it is discouraging to find out that a plant you have cared for has a virus. I have a couple that I just haven't been able to get rid of even though they are infected. I know I'm putting the rest of my collection at risk, but I simply can not throw those babies away

I know what you mean. I really loved my oncidium and it's going to be very hard for me to toss. It is a very big robust plant and grew very well (4 new leads now). Alas, I will toss it though, I want all my plants healthy.

Thanks for posting and the pictures. I've been thinking of testing mine also, but after seeing your phals, which look healthy enough to my inexperienced eyes, I think I will.

yes it is a bit worrying that phals can look perfectly healthy but be virused.

might explain why some people have certain phals that never flower even when given the right conditions.
