HELP! Potinara new shoot black!

I thought a few weeks ago that this was sunburn, but it looks like it rotted or something....someone said that I should not have misted the new growth as maybe some water got in between the leaves/psuedobulb....anyway,
I was advised to pull the leaf out, I tried!, but it won't budge! I need your help! should I cut it off? The only good roots are under this new shoot area, and I really need to save this plant...please help....here's some pictures. As you can see when I tried to pull it out it decided to bend over....man oh man!
