Default Growing outdoors in Miami

The grow area consists of 20% of our tiny backyard. We are removing nuisance trees, redoing the electric, and relandscaping, so things are all over the place. The front and parts of the backyard look like a combination plant sale and refugee camp.

Here are a few pictures of part of the grow area. I have a few more in the house. I plan to take back another 20% next weekend.

Thanks. I have a few on trees including two mule ears I rescued years ago when a lot was being cleared near the Brickell area. They were on a frazzled Live Oak along with an Oncidium in flower (that is what got my attention from the street). I climbed up the tree and grabbed the plants. Whoever lived in the old house put them there. The mule ears sat dejected for years in a too shady part of the yard. I strapped them on a small oak in the yard last year and they have taken off. I had no idea what they were until an orchid-crazed friend IDed it.

Ha I think only a fellow orchid lover can understand any kind of justification for spending money on plants. My room mate always makes a comment when I get a new plant "mas orquideas". I'd love to share plants. Right now I have keikis of Den crumenatum, a division of Den faciferum, Onc luridum(another mule ear), Psychillis krugii, Oeceoclades maculata, and top cuttings of Poritis pulcherima. I don't need anything in return(sharing is caring), unless you got a some species I don't that your willing to give a piece of. If your interested send me a PM

Love the Mule Ears, my kind of orchid! Great growing areas and really healthy looking plants. I got a couple of new natives from a guy in the Redlands. I went there to get a rare one first found just a couple of miles from my house, Cyrtopodium polyphilum. I grabbed a tiny Ionopsis just 2 years from the seed. The orchid bug has damaged my brain already.....somebody stop me!
