Yes, given how many species of dendrobiums there are...I shouldn't be surprised at varying growth rates.

My Den spectabile took 6 years to bloom and my other one is finally spiking now after 7 years....haha. but the Den spectabile hybrid, Den Hawaii Spectacular blooms pretty early.

Isnt your last photo the Den spectabile hybrid? Looks latouria, albeit that it bloomed a bit off. Looks like it blooms young too!

Yes, it is the last photo, and yes it looks like a latouria type. It is Dendrobium Peter Shen × Dendrobium spectabile. And I just looked it up, Den. Peter Shen is Den. alexandrae x Den. phalaenopsis. Den. alexandrae looks like a toned-down version of spectabile.

There were only two blooms left when I bought it on two separate stems, but it looks like there had been at least four flowers on each stem. I chose it because the flowers have that wavy look.

And I believe it was your Den. spectabile that I saw awhile back that made me realize how long I might have to wait with mine It has gotten at least half a dozen new growths since I bought it, but it's only 7 inches tall...
