Default Vacation plans

I was wondering if the "powers-that-be" would be interested in creating a "Sticky" thread regarding various scenarios for taking a vacation and caring for your orchids. I have evolved my collections into things that seem to require daily care for something or another. I would like to take a one or two week vacation without putting too much stress on a caretaker or, worse still, hire someone to care for these plants.
Might there be a value in such a perpetual thread?
(does one already exist...I am not a great searcher

Dorothy, you are sooooo awesome! Thanks so much as I was going to ask for a thread about how to care for them during vacations also. (I'm not good at researching either). Thanks also to Ray as he really put my mind at ease with his suggestions. I always think orchids are so fragile, yet they survive under all sorts of conditions.

I'm pretty sure that they'll be OK for a week or two. My Vandas and Cattleyas spent two weeks in transit enclosed in a box because they were sent through the wrong service and they made it in great health.
