First of all, as a passionate defender of the underdog and a “bully buster” since i was picked on as a kid, I LOVE the idea that anyone was standing up for me. Seriously, needed or not. I really appreciate that

Also, giving unsolicited advice does not have to imply that you know MORE, only that you might know different. And it could be helpful.

Bill nye is an awesome nickname but I’m old school. Mr wizard is my jam

I have no idea why that could even be considered to be insulting.

Understanding the science behind orchid culture has really helped me be a better grower. There might be others out there who feel the same.

I'll defend anyone. Even a trial lawyer, ya silver-tongued devil. Unsolicited advice is not a good thing, whether you know what you're talking about or not. It's the unsolicited that gets one into trouble. Ray has to be Bill Nye... he's the science guy. Mr. Wizard?

I don't think it's insulting either. I'm just reminding you of the conversation we had when you were congratulating me and Roberta for becoming moderators, and ya made the offhand comment you couldn't be called Bill Nye anymore. And I quickly put ya in place.

I leave the science part up to the science gnies. It puts me to sleep. That's what y'all are for... synopsis. And ya know it wasn't about understanding the science part that commenced my unsolicited advice. It was the manner in which it was delivered. Now I gotta go read about water quality. {{sigh}} I'll never make it through a damned one of my new year resolutions.

Well, no wonder I never heard of him. His followers were science and techno geeks. I'm sure I slept through that.

I never watched Bill Nye either... just remember him well because of the rhyming name.. Bill Nye the Science Guy. Easy to remember, as I'm terrible with names.

I was a Tom Terrific, Manfred the Mighty Wonderdog, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Popeye, and Superman comic books kinda gal.

To both Mr. Wizard and Nye the Guy... synopsis please?

How about Tutor Turtle? He had a Mr. Wizard too. WW, you have hijacked DC's thread. Maybe we need a retro cartoon thread?

The first "Watch Mr. Wizard" was in 1951.

Bill Nye "The Science Guy" aired from 1992-1998.

I have hijacked DC's thread... this is second time! Maybe I should move the retro-cartoon stuff to a thread in off topic?

I knew, Bill Jr., that you would be watching all the scientific techno geek stuff.

Edited to add: Tutor Turtle?!? Oh boy, here we go....

There ain't nuthin' named "Nordosa", and "Meuler" is just plain wrong.
Ray, thanks for this info - so what is the correct name, if one was to write it out on a tag?

Thanks,
Ridley

Like the tag on page one but lower case nodosa

I love rocky and bullwinkle!
Part of the origin of my silly double titled threads is from there!

Short short version of both science shows...very likeable old men do science experiments with the kids from a mix of ages and make learning fun!

No lie, I watched me wizard reruns as a kid and I know things still today I learned from that show.
