Dennis, that is very lovely. The blooms have a much more vivid colour and are quite a bit larger than the plant that I have. I understand there can be a lot of variation with ornithorhynchum. Good Growing!

Hi Dennis,
Beautiful flower & photos. Good growing!
Can I 'pick your brains' concerning your growing conditions? (I got one a few months ago) what medium are you using/ how often do you water? temp/humidity? compared to any other oncidiums .. that is if you have any others?

Gorgeous flowers!

I love this oncidium! My brother's first girlfriend had an orchid that I am pretty sure was one of these, or at least a very similar hybrid. It had the most amazing smell, like brown sugar only better! And somehow hers just bloomed and grew nonstop! She didn't have the greenest thumb, but this thing loved her. Her house always seemed really hot and a little dry to me.

Is it bad that my only regret over their break-up is not getting a division of that orchid before-hand?

Well, to be honest she wasn't all that good for my brother anyways.

This species is one of the only Oncidium species I own (the other is Sherry Baby) and the scent is just great! The color on yours is really nice too.

Good morning, Dennis. Your blooms are so pretty. I have tried onciciums but they don't like me. The live for a while and then languish and finally die.

Greenbean, I love your little story about your brothers ex-girlfriend.

(Is it bad that my only regret over their break-up is not getting a division of that orchid before-hand?

Well, to be honest she wasn't all that good for my brother anyways.)

I hope he has better luck next time. If she lasts, possibly you can teach her how to grow, and enjoy orchids.

Marilyn
