Yes, pleating in leaves is a sign of not enough water when they were growing. Once pleated they stay that way, but new growth should be OK if the water right water balance is found.
I had that happen to me the first year, I have since has it in S/H and I have not had any more pleating of the leaves and even got 2 spikes on one mature growth this year!
