Default flower with weird smell?

I recently bought an onc. orchid from trader joes. It has dark orange and yellow flowers. When the sun is shining on the flowers there is a strong smell of urine? Has anybody any ideas? I have asked my kid to smell it whithout telling them what I thought and they all said the same.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)

NO WAY

If it is Mtdm. Hawaiian Sunset it's no wonder they gave it a pretty name at least...

Yes, but did you ask them if they peed on it?

I haven't heard of an Oncidium smelling like urine... but now I need to smell that Mtcd. Hawaii Sunset that I see at Walmart and Home Depot...

This is getting weird. I thought you all were kidding, but now I need to personally check the smells before buying? Weird.
