Kelo,

Glad to hear that there's a modicum of justice in the universe - I'm sure that, what ever the recovery, it is not nearly what you deserve. Best of luck on the vaca, sounds like it's long overdue.

Thank you, J! Sadly, I've recovered all that I'm going to, physically. I do need a break that's certain and when time allows I'm off! lol

The holiday seems like a good, therapeutic (for the soul at least) idea. Who will take care of your plants and parrots while you're gone?

K, I would be interested in hearing about how your attacker got away with a fine that only had a default period of two days imprisonment.

Surely he was charged with greivous bodily harm or attempted murder.

He was initially charged with attempted murder but the charges were reduced just before it went to court. He was ordered to pay me £500 compensation and he paid me £30. The police took a while to catch him (he's a petty criminal well known to the police). It took about a year for my condition to deteriorate so this couldn't be taken into account at the time of the incident. My lawyer wants to appeal against the compensation I was awarded, some £1,300, which she considers to be pathetic. Since the laws changed here a few years ago to retrospectively compensate victims who were sexually abused as children she wants the courts to take into account the damage caused to me since the injuries were not apparent at the time. This guy sold his house and decided to go to Thailand on holiday. He was there two days when a lady of breeding stole all of his money and his passport and he ended up in the Bangkok Hilton for weeks. He's now back here and just been caught shoplifting. He wont live long; one or two of his druggie friend have died suddenly - with very little drugs in their systems but a lot of bruises. Drugs are so good for you, huh?

K, you certainly got the rough end of the pineapple!
Little wonder that organizations like 'Victims of Crime' exist to fight for the rights of victims.

I certainly did, Baz, and it's definitely taken me places I'd rather not have seen. The most galling aspect of it is that he has been treated like he was the victim. I never once had anyone from the police or Social Services etc. ask me how I was doing. If I hadn't got the personality that I have I would have gone under long ago. It's a daily fight but one I can handle.
