Default Dutch tulip growing at its best

Like last year, I figured that I can't live in the Netherlands without making a trip to Keukenhof Gardens, especially since it's their 60 year anniversary. This year the theme was New York (ex New Amsterdam) to mark the 400th anniversary of its establishment by the Dutch. I think the Dutch are still a bit miffed that the English stole the city from them.

Last year I posted pics, but the scenery there is just so eye dazzling and mind boggling that I thought that this year's trip deserved to be posted as well! They plant about 7 million bulbs there every year on 70 acres and the park attracts nearly 1 million visitors during the 2 months it's open. I spent 4 hours walking through paradise, and I don't even think I saw it all!
Here is a very small sampling. Enjoy!

The rest of the pics are here: Webshots album- Keukenhof 2009

Amazing, thanks for sharing! They grow a lot of tulips near where I live but unfortunately when you visit the look is not so appealing. It's still impressive but you just see rows of gorgeous color with a rather sterile look to them, Nothing in such a nice woodland setting as that park.

Well, I guess that you do live a bit far away. And it also seems that when you live in a country/ city, you never visit anything since you always think that you can do it later. I'm from Lyon, but never visited the old part until last summer (when a friend came). I'm french, but have never been to Paris...

Well, at least I've seen Amsterdam (de wallen; red light district) and the beach from Schevingen/Den Haag
