My University bloomed one around 2006. It is quite a sight in person.
It's the largest flower in the world.  |

Actually Rafflesia has the largest flower in the world. This Amorph has I believe the largest inflorescence. The flowers are actually tiny. |

They are awesome! Much cooler then mine. I have the Amorphophallus paeoniifolius just popping up. It looks like its going to flower this time. It also has 4 off shoots.

I have actually heard that the Amorphophallus is the largest flower and the Rafflesia is the heaviest. Not too sure how accurate the fact is but I have read it in a few places.
What exactly would be the difference between an inflorescence and a flower? |

An inflorescence is kind of like a spike that bears flowers on it. That spathe from the amorphophallus has lots of little flowers on it...the giant presentation that you see pictures of is not the actual flower.

An inflorescence are all the flowers from a plant together. A flower is defined by a Carpel, the female part, and or the male parts, stamens. Does not have to have both. If what looks like a flower has many of each or multiple groups of each coming from different spots, then you have multiple flowers. Multiple flowers coming in at once is an inflorescence. Example, Daisies are made up of many small flowers. Some with petals some without. But if you look closely at them, you will see many many separate flowers. What most people call a flower is actually an inflorescence. All Aroid blooms are an inflorescence because they contain multiple female fowers or males or both.

I've seen it blooming 2 years ago, at the kew garden in london, but I think it was bit too early
