thanks man! That is the most I can hope from it..... Just grow healthy and thrive. I don't care about flowering.

Hey if it's growing it will probably be blooming soon! I wouldn't reduce the humidity as long as it's happy. This one never showed any sign of rotting, and enjoyed the wet air. I kept it tightly closed under plastic wrap in that glass bowl.

When it did die, it was because the plastic came loose and the person caring for it didn't cover it again. It had been care-free as long as it was moist, but did not survive drying out.

I found the old bowl finally, and watered the dead-looking moss. That stuff came right back, but now it looks sad and lonely without the orchid :-(

I'll definitely be ordering another L. telipogoniflora in Spring.

sorry to hear about that. I feel bad for you. its a truly wonderful plant. But hey...atleast you know that its easy and know how to grow it. Next time you can take measures to ensure it doesn't happen.

The moss does look good. I want to order more lepanthes as well.

Good news guys: Two blooms...actually 3 from all the 3 new leaves. THere is the biggest one at 5 o clock and the other at 7 o clock.

BTW...the plant has surely slowed down. I have the better orchid orchid fertilizer. Its like a small bag with blue granules. How much fertilizer can I use to feed this plant to encourage growth without overdosing it? Also the media seems to be long fiber sphagnum with algae on it. It isn't really a good media to fertilize.

hey guys...

check this out.

the flower has opened. It has slowed down though. Can someone please tell me if I need to fertilize it and can I use that above fertilizer? I don't want the plant to decline due to flowering. If it will..I don't mind cutting off every flowerstalk before it grows fully.

thanks,

V

Congrats on the blooming, varun! Not too experienced with the pleurothallids (only have one restrepia) but your plant looks amazingly healthy. I would enjoy the flowers What water do you use? I assume with your carnivorous plants that you use RO water or some sort of purified water? I've heard that certain fertilizers work better with RO water...in particular, I use one put out by MSU which is designed for RO water. Awesome growing . can't wait till your tolumnia and paph bloom for you as well (PS this is calvin from facebook/calorchis from ontario carnivorous plant forum)

hey Calvin,

yeah! I use the same conditions as my highland neps from this one. It gets RO water as you mentioned.

The tolumnia is already in spike as 2 fronds. It will be a real flowershow once it actually finishes. The paph isn't showing signs of blooming but the dracula is. Lets see.

I am also considering getting Maxsea fertilizer.

Congratulations for the flowering
I think the fertiliser you showed will not go with the RO water (the pH will drop very low). I use RO water with MSU fertiliser. For my lepanthes the concentrarion is very low and I fertilise about 1 every 10 days .

Thanks for the reply. hmmm. well...can I use tap water and then try this? I don't really want to waste this one if I can use it with some modification. Do I spray the entire plant? Do I drench it? Do I soak the media and then wash it away in 72 hrs?

thanks,

V

I keep the sphagnum constantly moist and I just spray the substrate with the fertiliser solution. I wash out the plant with pure water 1 every 2 weeks or 1 a month-it depents on the plant .
I use RO water and low fertiliser concentration for the sensitive plants so I don`t have sault buid up .
