I guess it all depends on which we vote for!

I think going down the list a bit to keep it to one would be OK. But it would be better to have two plants than an unpopular choice.

Any idea how many we are going to get to vote for?

I saw some of the harder to find orchids at shows but the websites of some of the vendors are either non-existent, not set up, or only list a few. The orchids are probably all out there in plentiful numbers but finding them would be quite frustrating. Too bad. Hopefully, the top choice will be easily available so we can have a single project plant.

Crystal Star has removed their lists! They must be getting ready to update.
Exotic Orchids of Maui has them for $7 (don't the HI vendors ship to CAN?)

US
Clown Alley $16
Andy's $20

EU
Nardotto EUR14
Hennis EUR17.50
La Canopee EUR23
Schwerter EUR15
I think we'll have to leave Den parishii off the list then, since there's no Canadian vendor. I hope Crystal Star put up the new list soon. Podangis dactyloceras was only available there in Canada, and I hope it's still there when they update!

Dang, we're not going to be able to add any of the Dens.

Den sulawesiense/glomeratum can get quite large (canes up to 20 inches)

Den. harveyanum: so far no vendor in the USA, I don't have time to research it further. No price on Botanica Ltd means not available.

Den jenkinsii: not in canada, other than the aggregatum, and haven't checked out shipping from Hawaii. The other issue is that I've heard that these Dens are called Den aggrevation, because they can be difficult to bloom.

Ok, I do not agree with the name (based on my single experience), but maybe I just have a better clone

Question Hey I found one more cutie!

I know that we would prob need one more vendor in CAN but maybe we could add this subject to availability (we only have 5 CAN participants)?

It's really cute! It's on the warm side of intermediate according to all of the data I can find.

Ceratostylis rubra (now known as retisquama)

IOSPE PHOTOS

From IOSPE "A nice, small sized, terete psuedobulb and tough, linear-falcate leaf, it flowers arise from the dry, brown sheaths at the base of the pseudobulb, and grows into dense mats. It is a warm to hot growing epiphytic plant found at elevations up to 500 meters, freeflowering in almost all seasons with a solitary or pair of, short-lived flowers arising on a short stalk on a new growth at the base, and comes from the Philippines. It may be mounted in a wood slat basket or on cork and is an easy plant to grow."

Availability
CAN
Paramount $26 NFS listed as rubra
We can check with Crystal Star when they post the new lists.

USA
Andy's used to have it (we could check again)
Oak Hill used to have it
CLAN Tropicals $16 listed as rubra BS
Sorella Orchids $18 listed as rubra BS
Parkside $30 (over) listed as retisquama BS
SLO Orchids $22 (over) listed as retisquama & rubra BS
White Oak Orchids $18 listed as retisquama BS

EU
Nardotto EU12.50
Hennis EUR12.50
Les Orchidees EUR18 listed as rubra and retisquama
Grobraschen EUR15 listed as rubra
Schwerter EUR6 listed as retisquama (rubra)
La Courdes EUR18 listed as rubra
Kopf EUR20 listed as rubra
Vacherot EUR18 listed as retisquama
