Default Zygopetalum Rhein Blue

Got this orchid a week ago or so... and it's finally opened all it's flowers now. It's a Zygopetalum Rhein Blue x (Zygopetalum Arthur Elle x Skippy Ku). Smells great, but not as strong as I thought it would. Cool looking flowers though... Will be getting some other varieties soon I'm sure!

Default Can't find the name

I just bought a plant with the same name. According to Wildcatt the new name for Zygopetalum Arthur Elle x Skippy Ku is Z Jumpin Jack.

I can't find Z Rhein Blue though. I saw one reference to Zygosepalum Rhein Blue. Anyone have any ideas?

End of Oct. I purchased my first Zygopetalum Arthur Elle 'Tombstone'. The plant is small, about 7 in. long leaves. It seems to do best under my florescence lights. It has a flower spike about 1 in. long in bud. I have it in sphag. moss. Its rootbase is wrapped around something that feels like sponge. I transplanted it to a clear pot with side air vents and wrapped it in the moss. Any input would be helpful, don't want to kill the bud.

Hey Pam, Mine likes to be moist, but never soggy. You sound like you are on top of things. Good luck with your bud!

KiKi Thanks for the response. I forgot to reply when I first posted this. Oh, noticed this week that its not a spike its just a very nice healthy root with a perfect green tip! amazing isn't it? I learn something new everyday. Orchids are the best!

DDinwiddie...I could not find this guy anywhere...I looked on the RHS site and in Orchid Wiz. It seems that it is an unregistered hybrid. I did not even see anything that looked close.

I found the same thing as you on the RHS site, that cross is called Z Jumpin Jack

I found a Zygolum Rhein Harlequin though, that has Artur Elle as a parent. No trace of Rhein Blue nor of Rhein Blue x Jumpin Jack. Must not be registered.
