Many registered names are derived from the parents .. sometimes it's part of both names ..
Sometimes they are named after people as to honor someone special be them living or deceased. 
I think some hybridizers might anticipate the characteristics of a hybrid before it blooms and give it a name they 'think' would be appropriate.
Those silly orchid propagators ..

What really worries me about that name is my wayward pronunciation propensity. If you're not really careful, the man with the golden arm could have another golden appendage.

I am here to help  and serving the OB is a pleasure.
I do so love learning orchid tib-bits and sharing them with everyone and also keeping things on the OB lighthearted and fun

At this age, I worry about my 'facets' (I hope they aren't showing)
