bloom times for phals?

Hi guys, on one of the replies to a post I issued a week or so ago indicated phals have different blooming times (for example I think the whites & pinks bloom in winter and my venosa is a summer bloomer). How do you know what time of year your phal is supposed to bloom or do they just keep blooming several times a year if the conditions are right?

For me they bloom when there is either a temperature fluctuation or if the light levels are higher.
Unfortunately light levels during a temp fluctuation, like in the winter, are lower.

Anyways Phals are very floriferous and can send a spike anytime. I find that lighting is more important than temp fluctuations. I get the most blooms during the summer when because lighting is higher for those windowsill plants. My plants are all sending their spikes right now because of the spring sun

And old spikes can also rebloom and branch, so one spike can get new buds all the time. I have a yellow phal that hasn't stopped blooming for a long time.

For hybrids I don't think I can pin-point a bloom season.

My hybirds will bloom twice yearly, Late summer then again late winter. They are all various colors, I don't drops tempts.
Still working on the species.

My hybrid phals start blooming in autumn and/or in spring.

Mine bloom whenever the temperature fluctuates in my house. My secret for two spikes on a Phal is to give it more light when it sends out the first one.

I have 5 in bloom now with 2 others that just started spiking...a bit of both hybrid and species with all being a different color. I have not moved mine from a west window since I bought them other than presenting the ones in bloom in the living room.

I have two hybrids that bloom like clockwork the end of January, beginning of February. The blooms last well into early summer, and sometimes they will bloom again in late summer. They've been reblooming off the same old spike for two years now.

I have one mericlone that is my favourite, it looks so nice that if I was really adventursome, I would like to cross it with a scented Phal. Now that I have my camera fixed, I am going to try to post its picture.

Mathew, nice secret!
Mine started blooming just before Christmas, just 2 actually. One of them is still putting on new blooms. The other 4, I don't know what Im doing wrong. Since they were in bloom 1 year ago today. They all get plenty of morning sun They even have the purple tinge on their leaves. Could be a humidity issue
