I don't know about anyone else here, but I don't find that humidity plays a major role with phals & flowering.
Tin, Have you tried dosing with epsom salts a few times?

Lagoon, I don't have my phals on a humidity tray, and I live in a dry climate. They are in a spot that has a south facing sliding glass door, a west facing kitchen window, a 5X5 skylight in the kitchen, and a north facing window in the dining room. They sit kind of in the middle with no direct light but are surrounded by light on 3 sides. They seem to be really happy there and bloom every year. I guess what I'm trying to say in a very roundabout way is I agree. Humidity plays no role in my phals blooming.  |

Species or Hybrid, I get blooms in August or Spring, sometimes both when I'm lucky. I think it is either a change in light or a change in temperature that triggers it, perhaps both.

Never tried it. Never even heard of doing that. ANd I have no clue where to find epsom salts.  How do they help? THanks!

Tin, Epsom salt is Magnesium Sulfate. It's a great to help induce flowers.
1 teaspoon per 1 gallon of water.
I use this on my roses and tomatos all summer long. Bigger blossoms and big red toms  |

MgSO4, hmm I have that. The epsom salts. Do you know what concentration they sell them in? Im gonna try it, but at really really small concentrations. I have the pure MgSO4 in my lab.

Terri, Just curious to know if these are hybirds, Species or maybe both types of phals??
Tin, I don't know for sure. My package from the drug store reads, Magnesium Sulfate USP 
Maybe some of the others here will have more info to help you out more. |

Gloria, both of my good bloomers were purchased from a big box store, one NOID and the other Malibu Merlot. I'm assuming they are hybrids.
