I don't know about anyone else here, but I don't find that humidity plays a major role with phals & flowering.
Tin, Have you tried dosing with epsom salts a few times?

Lagoon, I don't have my phals on a humidity tray, and I live in a dry climate. They are in a spot that has a south facing sliding glass door, a west facing kitchen window, a 5X5 skylight in the kitchen, and a north facing window in the dining room. They sit kind of in the middle with no direct light but are surrounded by light on 3 sides. They seem to be really happy there and bloom every year. I guess what I'm trying to say in a very roundabout way is I agree. Humidity plays no role in my phals blooming.

Species or Hybrid, I get blooms in August or Spring, sometimes both when I'm lucky. I think it is either a change in light or a change in temperature that triggers it, perhaps both.

Never tried it. Never even heard of doing that. ANd I have no clue where to find epsom salts. How do they help? THanks!

Tin, Epsom salt is Magnesium Sulfate. It's a great to help induce flowers.
1 teaspoon per 1 gallon of water.
I use this on my roses and tomatos all summer long. Bigger blossoms and big red toms

MgSO4, hmm I have that. The epsom salts. Do you know what concentration they sell them in? Im gonna try it, but at really really small concentrations. I have the pure MgSO4 in my lab.

Terri, Just curious to know if these are hybirds, Species or maybe both types of phals??

Tin, I don't know for sure. My package from the drug store reads, Magnesium Sulfate USP
Maybe some of the others here will have more info to help you out more.

Gloria, both of my good bloomers were purchased from a big box store, one NOID and the other Malibu Merlot. I'm assuming they are hybrids.
