Default anyone prune the tops off of their D. nobile?

My dendrobium nobile is getting too tall. It is too tall for its coldframe outside and for the my lights inside.

Does anyone cut off the tops of their canes to keep it fitting in its designated area...and still get it to flower????

I've never heard of pruning a nobile tip, but then again I've not read too much about them. I have 2 plants, both Yellow Song 'Canary', and I wouldn't want to prune the tips. How tall are the canes?

I wouldn't prune the tips. I'll give you my address and you can send it on over. I have a nice tall home for it!!!

I wouldn't cut the cane per se but pinching off the tip of the growing point when the cane reaches the desired height will stop further growth of the cane. I do it for a few of my really tall nobiles and doesn't seem to negatively affect the health of the plant or the flowering. Obviously you probably shouldn't tip prune the canes too short, though.

I really wouldn't cut a cane which has alredy grown tall. I think that could lead to infection very easily.

I like Andrew's idea though. I've not done it, but i had one which got the tip eaten out by a slug and it just stopped the cane growth and didn't have any other ill efects.
