Default Paph. spicerianum

I've been growing orchids for, I don't know, forever? But until recently hadn't really gotten into the Paph. family. This year, however, they've captured me and I've picked several up. This one is a plant I got perhaps a month ago, from Oak Hill. I have to admit that it arrived in bud and so can't take credit for it, but the flower really fascinates me. I'm going to need a new shelf for Paphs now, I think!

LOL the slippers have snagged your attention! They got mine last year. You're right, you're going to need a new shelf.

That's a very nice spicerianum. I like the color and form of yours. Some I've seen haven't been nearly as nice and I've resisted buying one so far. Where did you get yours?

She came from Oak Hill Gardens. Their web site shows that they still have some available and in bud and they're a paltry $15! I wish I'd ordered two!

Very nice plant! I'm eager to learn about paphs myself so pass along the successes on the new leg of your obsession!

I've been growing Paphs for a couple seasons, now and I have found that if they like the culture and you get new growths, you will, in fact get more blossoms. Never fails, so far, for me Welcome to the "dark side". I'm up to 10 different Paphs now. All started with one. So now you know what you have to look forward to. I will recommend Andy's Orchids, Parkside Orchids, and especially About Us who have mini Paphs - you can really increase your collection while not taking up lots of space. All of mine fit in a couple square feet.

I don't do most Dendros or large, "floofy orchids". For me it's minis (like Angraecoides), Masdies, Paphs, and others that crept in somewhere along the line. See my orchid list for complete collection (usually not current.)
