Just bought a plant and was wondering what is the best potting mix to use. Also I have read that you do not water or feed during the winter. How about if it gets hit daily by a fogger.

I grow mine in the same mix I use for other Cymbidiums, and after 2 years it's a hearty plant. I also water mine through the winter and it just keeps growing, but I haven't had a bloom yet. I think maybe it does need a drying out to stimulate bloom, so this winter I'll try that. All my orchids that need winter drying get misting (not directly on the plant, but a greenhouse mister system) and it doesn't hurt any of them. I think even those that like a dryer winter need some moisture.

Good luck, and post some pictures when it blooms.

Ed

Never let the plant go completely dry, If your plant is not flowering there are many reasons for this but the chances of it being too much water is remote .

Allow space for about two years growth , so a 6" may be too small , a 7 " might do the trick . I find that my cymbidiums enjoy deep pots.
