No one can keep up with all the name changes, and there are no dumb questions...
Firefly is the registered name of the cross (the grex name), and every plant that comes from Myrmecophilia thomsoniana x Broughtonia sanguinea is called Myrmetonia Firefly. No quotes are used. This is a for orchids, other plants may not have such registered names.
If one particular plant of Firefly is considered special for whatever reason it can get an additional name. That name goes in single quotes, such as Myrmetonia Firefly 'Junebug'. From that point on every division gets the same name, or if the plant is cloned they all get that name, to distinguish them from every other Firefly. The name in single quotes is called the cultivar or clonal name.
Every orchid plant that gets an award must be given a cultivar name, but anyone can give any plant a cultivar name at any time for any reason. There is no official record except for awarded plants. You really can call yours Firefly 'Junebug' so when you trade a division with someone they can distinguish it from some other inferior trashy Firefly. Just don't give a cultivar name to a plant that already has one and make it distinctive, a name no one else is likely to choose.
