David, when you're looking for this plant, try to see whether the parents used were alba varieties or you're going to end up with a colored, not an alba in hands.

That is an outstanding hybrid. Where did you acquire it from and how big does the plant grow?

This is a cross I found in a local nursery here in Brazil that saddly closed the doors a few months ago. The adult plant is 12-13" tall, Carl.

Thanks for responding so quickly. It's a bummer that the nursery has closed down. But I will look carefully in days to come for a Lemon Creme with alba parents because you have a winner.

Thanks for the plant and flowers shot, I like seeing the whole plant personally! I wish more people would do that!

Hi Mauro,

Were both of the parents of this cross alba varieties, or just the Cattleya loddigesii? I'm curious because I have the loddigesii alba, but not the briegeri, which I have only seen as yellow. I was considering re-making the cross as it is a beautiful one, and not available in the US.

Thanks! :D

Both were alba varieties, David. Take a look at my L. briegeri var. albescens on the link below (btw, it is in bud now:) !)

Strictly speaking, this L briegheri is not an alba because it has yellow pigment in it. An alba must have no floral pigment at all (other than green which is from chlorophyll).

However, your L briegheri is 100 times as attractive with the yellow pigment as it would be without. In fact, it is precisely the color it needs to be in order to produce that wonderful Lc Lemon Creme.

Carl
