Default C. maxima

The sheaths of this one - like C. purpurata and others - can have no bud activity for months - maybe even half a year. That's the usual behaviour, which is quite nice.

And then we eventually get nice colour and patterns for us to enjoy.

These pics were captured this morning - at first, no sunlight yet, and then with the morning sun shining.

Hi itzi! Thanks for your post and question. The pink colour is subtle when in the shade, such as in the first photo. And when the morning sun shines on it - and depending on the time of day, the colours can really come out very nicely like in the photo. And not just the colours.

The 'crystalline' sparkle comes out too --- the sparkles that we see in many orchid flowers when some light shines on them.

How stunning! Thats my favorite thing about orchid flowers; they sparkle like jewels.
