Default Cattleya maxima - lowland race

I had some trouble with this plant, but finally it is recovered and blooming again! This lowland race of C. maxima has tall plants with long leaves (the leaf that appears just behind the flowers is 16" long!).
I personally love this race's lip with its purple veins on white background!

Wonderful plant and photos, Mauro!

I especially love the close-up of the lip...what a gorgeous pattern this one has!

Wow Mauro, you werent kidding about those big leaves!! Beautiful flower though! Ive never seen the lowland variety in real life, though Ive been looking to pick one of these guys up when I do. Thanks for the pics! BTW, does the lowland variety bloom at the same time of year as the upland?

Mauro, you already know how I feel about this one!
Henceforth, I shall call no Cattleya gorgeous less it be this one.

Isn't it beautiful, Susanne? I was very worried when this plant showed some signals of dehydration. I quickly repotted it in moss and fortunately it is healthy again!

More or less at the same time, Steve (at least here in the South Hemisphere!). Actually, the lowland race blooms in November and December and the upland a little earlier, in September.

It's definitely a beauty. Mauro, I love when you capture both flower and plant. Nice save on this one. You have the knack.
