I am glad about all Catasetum enthusiasts. The #1 Noid reminds me of sanguineum x fimbriatum, just a guess.
The #4 herrenhusanum hybrid probably bears female flowers.

I am always testing out new mediums and mixes and, quite frankly, Ctsm don't seem to be fussy about their mixes...not at all. I have and do use everything from straight sphag to a chunky, drier mix and as long as I give them enough light, enough water and fert when they are growing and then observe their dormant period...I've never noticed any significant difference between the various media/mixes. Currently, I have at least 5 different mixes and all plants are growing about the same.

Basically, whatever allows you to meet their cultural needs...whatever that mix might be...they will be happy.

Thanks! Glad you like them, NYCo-man.

Both those were highly fragrant! The first one more so than the red one but yea, the fragrance is quite strong and I find it to be pleasant.

Most Ctsm (including Cl, Cyc, Morm and hybrids) are very fragrant...some almost overpoweringly so...but I find many to have an unusual sort of medicinal type undertone to their fragrances. Not unpleasant (well most) but definitely not the typical floral fragrance like one smells w/many catts. And I don't find any of the ones I have to be sweet smelling.

Various medicinal qualities...kind of like eucalyptus in fragrance...along w/some citrus-y fragrances. Definitely nothing sweet though.

Thanks again for the wonderful comments, everyone .

Shoot, herrenhusanum is one of my favorite species and yours looks great. If you end up wanting to part with it, let me know!
