Default B. rothschildianum 'Henry Scardefield'

I've had this Bulbo for over a year and it's only had one new growth. A couple of months back, it began growing what I thought was a spike but almost as soon as I noticed it, it suddenly aborted.

It's now growing something...A new growth? A spike? It looks too fat to be a spike, doesn't it? I seem to think though, that new growth happens along the rhizome and not off of other bulbs, with this Bulbo.

Can anyone clear this up for me before I get too excited in thinking (wishfully!) it's finally going to flower? BTW, the blooms on this one are outrageous!
