It's Bulbo time so what's taking so long? - Orchid Board

I've love my Bulbos...have around 20 but there are 3 that I'm anxiously waiting to start seeing signs of spiking. I'm in hot, humid, Florida, aka Bulbo heaven and this year has been record breaking hot and humid so, where are my spikes?

Oh, that's right...I forgot...P.A.T.I.E.N.C.E.

My Daisy Chain is spiking now but give me blooms...PLEASE on my Wilmar Galaxy (pic 1), medusae (pic 2) and my rothschildianum 'Henry Scardefield' (pic 3, front right).

P.S. Hoping everyone is enjoying their summer. I've got a lot of catching up to do around here.

Medusae is a fall/winter bloomer; mine spiked in January. So you'll unfortunately very likely need to be patient a bit longer. Sorry...

Since these plants come from areas with somewhat similar climates to Florida (in terms of warmth, anyway), I'm guessing daylight length is possibly the trigger to bloom, rather than temperature.

Gotcha Stephen! Florida winters = 9 hours of 85 degrees. It's a big price to pay but for my medusae, its worth it.

It looked like my Bulb. rothchildianum was starting to spike right before i left to mexico but now it is black although it is still there.

Hopefully it will come back to life? Iguess ill have to wait unitl next year

NOPE! I've had a lot of growth over this winter and even a spike now on my Daisy Chain which is unusual. This one usually blooms for me in mid summer. My biggest disappointment is my medusae. I was hoping for a least one spike this winter but it skipped this year.
